PennFest announces their line-up for summer 2023
Buckinghamshire’s biggest music festival PennFest have announced their stellar line-up for summer 2023.
Held in picturesque countryside near the village of Penn Street, PennFest 2023 will be headlined on Friday 21st July 2023 by Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds and by Bastille on Saturday 22nd July 2023 in a fantastic multi-genre line-up which has something for every music lover.
Tickets are on-sale now via www.pennfest.co.uk.
On Friday, Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds, the critically-acclaimed multi-platinum band led by the iconic musician, will be preceded by guitar legend Johnny Marr plus Supergrass frontman and Mercury Prize-nominated solo artist Gaz Coombes.
Appearing ahead of Bastille’s headline set on Saturday will be Corinne Bailey Rae, DJ Fresh and Embrace. Also appearing over the weekend are Craig Charles (It’s Not A Funk Soul Show), Not3s, DJ Luck & MC Neat, Artful Dodger, The Cuban Brothers, Bad Manners and many, many more.
The PennFest 2023 headliner announcement follows the recent release of Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds’ brilliant new single, ‘Pretty Boy’. Currently receiving widespread national radio support the track signals the beginning of a new creative chapter and first new music from Noel’s forthcoming fourth studio album which will be released in 2023. Recorded at Noel’s own studio in London, Lone Star Sound and co-produced with Paul ‘Strangeboy’ Stacey, the track also features long-time friend and collaborator (and fellow PennFest 2023 performer) Johnny Marr on guitar.
2023 marks the 10th anniversary of Bastille’s million-selling, twice UK No.1 debut album, ‘Bad Blood’, which featured the international hit ‘Pompeii’. Bastille became 2013’s biggest-selling global breakthrough act, winning the British Breakthrough Act award at the 2014 Brits and receiving two Grammy Award nominations. Earlier this year, the four-piece released their fourth album, the No.1, critically acclaimed ‘Give Me The Future’. Described as ‘their best album’ by both Rolling Stone and Clash and as ‘the most expansive, yet cohesive record Bastille have put their name to’ by NME, ‘Give Me The Future’ explores a futuristic wonderland free from restrictions.
Since launching in 2011, PennFest has grown from humble beginnings as a village festival attracting 2,000 people into a hugely respected fixture on the UK festival circuit, attracting internationally renowned artists and a daily capacity crowd of 10,000 year after year.
Nick Billinghurst and Matt Smith, PennFest organisers, said: ‘We’re so excited to announce the line-up for next year’s PennFest. With two such incredible, world-renowned headliners we feel it’s our strongest ever. It’s going to be epic!‘
PennFest offers much more than just an impressive array of performers across its four stages. The site has been intelligently curated with high quality food and drink, shops and activities. There is a global artisan market with a selection of arts based stalls and creative workshops, plus multiple bars and a wide range of quality food outlets, selling dishes from around the world.
Camping will be available on site from Friday 21st July to Sunday 23rd July 2023, offering the perfect opportunity to enjoy the beautiful surroundings of the Chilterns. There are free hot showers in the camping area, as well as glamping and pre-pitched tents.
