Two die following a collision involving around eight vehicles on the M40
Two people died following a collision involving around eight vehicles on the M40 near High Wycombe on the morning of Sunday 22nd January 2023.
At around 8.15am, there was a collision involving around eight vehicles on the Southbound carriageway of the M40 between J5 (Stokenchurch) and J4 (Handy Cross, High Wycombe).
Sadly, a woman in her sixties and a man in his seventies, died at the scene. Their next of kin has been informed and is being supported by specially trained police officers.
A further two people sustained serious injuries and were taken to hospital. Ten people sustained minor injuries, a number of who were taken to hospital for additional checks.
Both carriageways were closed following the collision to allow an air ambulance to land. The Northbound carriage way re-opened around 11.30am.
Thames Valley Police is appealing for witnesses and dash-cam footage to the fatal Road Traffic Collision.
Detective Chief Inspector Mike Bettington, of the Joint Operations Roads Policing Unit, said: ‘Our thoughts remain with the family and friends of the two people who died.
