Police appeal for witnesses following an attempted robbery at The Rye in High Wycombe

An appeal for witnesses has been launched by Thames Valley Police following an attempted robbery in High Wycombe.

On Friday 29th March 2024, at around 6.45pm, a man in his thirties was walking on a footpath in The Rye between the Lido café and Warren Wood Drive. The man was approached by an unknown man who punched him in the chest area and tried to grab the chain which was around his neck.

The victim defended himself, but later noticed he suffered a superficial stab wound, which required hospital treatment. He has since been discharged.

The offender is described as a white man, between 6ft 1ins and 6ft 2ins tall and of slim build. He had a black or brown coloured beard and was wearing dark clothing.

Investigating officer PC James Devonald, based at High Wycombe police station, said: ‘We are appealing for any witnesses to this attempted robbery where no property was stolen but the victim suffered an injury.
