24 hour Fire Brigades Union strike starts at 9.00am on Tuesday 9th November 2014

| December 8, 2014

Members of the Fire Brigades Union are planning to stage a national 24 hour strike starting from 9.00am on Tuesday 9th December 2014.

The strike will end at 9.00am on Wednesday 10th December 2014. The industrial action is part of the union’s ongoing dispute with the Government over pensions.

Buckinghamshire Fire & Rescue Service has plans which enable it to continue to provide an emergency response in Buckinghamshire and Milton Keynes during periods of industrial action. Emergency calls where lives are at risk will be prioritised.

As we would on any other day, Buckinghamshire Fire & Rescue Service are also asking people to take care.

Firefighters in England and Wales have been taking part in strikes to protect their pensions since September 2013. The short video, below, produced by the Fire Brigades Union in the summer of 2014 prior to last round of Industrial Action explains why industrial action has been necessary. Despite months of negotiations there has be no improvement offered for English firefighters.
