Chiltern Railways has announced plans to operate trains into London Marylebone on Boxing Day.

The special Boxing Day service will allow shoppers, football fans and tourists to travel on a day when rail stations are traditionally closed.

Services will call at Oxford Parkway, Bicester Village, Haddenham and Thame Parkway, Princes Risborough, High Wycombe, Beaconsfield, Gerrards Cross and London Marylebone.

Passengers travelling from the recently opened Oxford Parkway station will be making history as it will be the first time a train has run from Oxford into London on Boxing Day since 1944.

Trains will run during the day with the first northbound train departing from London Marylebone to Oxford Parkway via Bicester Village at 8.15am.

The last train departing London Marylebone will be at 8.15pm terminating at Princes Risborough at 8.55pm.

The first train southbound train will run from Princes Risborough to London at 8.54am and the last will run from Oxford Parkway via Bicester Village to London Marylebone at 8.26pm.

Chiltern Railways have also announced that on Boxing Day they will be waiving the car park charges at their station car parks.

Thomas Ableman, Commercial Director at Chiltern Railways said: ‘We know that many people are itching to get out and about on Boxing Day which is why we’re running a train service on part of our route this year.

London Marylebone is a stone’s throw from Oxford Street and handy for tube lines so we anticipate that the service will be popular with shoppers keen to snap up a bargain and football fans heading to the match.

With free parking at Chiltern stations on the day, theatre tickets and 2-4-1 attractions when you travel by train, coming into London is a great day out with family or friends, especially if the turkey sandwiches are getting too much!’
