Power cut hits western side of High Wycombe

A power cut affected hundreds of homes in High Wycombe on Wednesday 20th November 2019.

At 9.04pm darkness descended on the Oakridge and Castlefield areas of High Wycombe as a power cut struck leaving hundreds of homes without electricity. The homes affected were mainly in the HP12 postal code areas.

Street lights also went out, resulting in a total blackout with residents walking in the streets needing to use torches to find their way around. Candles could be seen burning in many houses as home owners struggled to see in the darkness.

Scottish and Southern Energy Networks are aware of the fault. The SSEN Powertrack website lists the following information : ‘We’re sorry for the loss of supply. We currently have a fault affecting the areas listed. Our engineers are on site working hard to get the power back on as quickly as they can. Power was restored at around 0.04am on Thursday 21st November 2019.
