Wycombe Wanderers 1-4 Coventry City

Coventry City visited Adams Park for a League One match on Sunday 29th December 2019.

In just the third minute Coventry stamped their assertion on the match with a goal from Sam McCallum who scored with a shot into the bottom right corner of the Wycombe goal.

Wycombe fought back with a goal by Adebayo Akinfenwa in the fourteenth minute of the game, through a shot from the centre of the box which found the bottom left corner of the Coventry goal.

A minute later Wycombe conceded a penalty when Sido Jombati fouled Coventry’s Sam McCallum in the penalty area. Matt Godden stepped forward to convert the penalty giving Coventry the lead again by two goals to one.

Both sides had further chances during the rest of the first half, however Coventry took a two goal lead in the forty fourth minute through Matt Godden who shot from a difficult angle into the bottom left corner of the Wycombe net.

Following a goal packed first half it was Coventy who held the lead by three goals to one at half time.

Just a few minutes into the second half Coventry extended their lead when, in the fiftieth minute of the game, Matt Godden completed a hat-trick with a shot that found the bottom right corner of the Wycombe goal.

Both sides had further chances however Wycombe were unable to fight back and the match ended as a victory to the visitors by four goals to one and marked Wycombe’s third successive defeat.

Following today’s game Wycombe remain at the top of League One with forty three points from twenty three games.
