Police make six arrests following operation to tackle drug supply in Aylesbury town centre
An operation to tackle drug supply in Aylesbury town centre has resulted in Thames Valley Police making arrests, seizing cash and issuing a closure order.
Last week, officers from departments across Aylesbury Vale have focused their attention on activities targeting those supplying drugs in Aylesbury town centre.
There were increased patrols of areas known to be frequented by these criminals, the execution of a drugs warrant and the closure of an address.
As a result, six people were arrested, twenty five stop and searches were carried out and a number of intelligence reports have been made to help with current investigations and to plan future activity.
On top of this a number of seizures were made including thousands of pounds in cash, two vehicles, weapons and quantities of class A and class B drugs.
Inspector Simon Lincoln, of the Aylesbury town centre neighbourhood team, said: ‘Local residents have repeatedly told me that drug dealing in the town centre is causing them significant concern and I am pleased with the results that we have achieved through this operation.
We strive to create a hostile environment for drug dealers in our communities and continue to be successful with the help of the public. Our local residents are the first to notice when something seems out of place and I would like to encourage our communities to continue making reports to us if you believe drug dealing is taking place.
You can do this using our online form or by calling 101. If a crime is taking place now, then always call 999.
Whilst an officer may not respond immediately, we review and assess all the information that is submitted to us and this helps to plan large-scale operations like this and to apply for warrants so that we can make a more sustained, long-term change.‘
Police arrested a 43 year old woman and a 34 year old man, both from Aylesbury, on suspicion of possession with intent to supply class A drugs. They have been released under investigation.
