11 fire appliances required to extinguish a barn fire in Iver

A barn fire in Iver required the attendance of 11 fire appliances and crews.

On Tuesday 13 December 2022, at 9.20am, firefighters were called to a barn fire at Bangors Road South, Iver.

The barn was well alight when the firefighters arrived at the scene. The barn contained a number of vehicles including a forklift truck, as well as bales of hay and LPG cylinders.

The road was closed while the emergency services worked at the scene. Officers from Thames Valley Police also attended the incident to manage traffic and the road closure.

The stop message was sent from the scene shortly after 12.00pm (noon) on Tuesday 13th December 2022 however firefighters remained at the site, turning over and damping down.

At the height of the fire 11 appliances and crews were in attendance, along with five officers. The fire appliances and crews attending were from:

  • Gerrards Cross
  • Slough
  • Beaconsfield
  • Hayes
  • Ruislip
  • Maidenhead
  • Heathrow
  • Hillingdon
  • Langley
  • Bracknell
  • Aylesbury

The firefighters at the scene used the following equipment during the operation to extinguish the fire:

  • Three sets of breathing apparatus
  • One hose reel jet
  • One main jet
  • Two ground monitors

The barn was around 50 per cent involved in the fire and around 100 per cent damaged by smoke.
