All my life I have had the pleasure of residing in the wonderful town of High Wycombe in Buckinghamshire. Indeed my ancestors have resided in Wycombe and the surrounding area for several centuries.
During my lifetime there have been many changes take place in our town. At the present time the town is changing faster than ever before however I feel that not all the changes are for the better.
I would like to share my experience of life in Wycombe with you through this blog to hopefully raise awareness of the problems the residents face in their daily lives.

Opinion : Are bad times here again?
The past few lunchtimes have been disappointing when it comes to weather. Grey, overcast skies and drizzly rain are not the ideal conditions for eating ones sandwiches outdoors. Let me assure you I for one am not going to be put off by some inclement weather. I must admit the past few days yours truly […]
Opinion : Put litter in the litter bin and do not make a mess
What a shame, another Bank Holiday weekend is over but what an enjoyable one it was. Last Friday evening was spent getting my extensive garden ready for the holiday weekend. Cutting the lawn, tending to the plants in my greenhouse and picking up the litter which some passing rascal had thrown into my front garden. […]
Opinion : What’s on TV this Bank Holiday?
It’s Friday, the weekend is about to start and another Bank Holiday has arrived.
Opinion : Buying a house just got harder
For young couples striking out on their own one of the biggest obstacles has been the cost of buying a house. Over recent years house prices have risen to ridiculous levels indeed purchasing an average semi in Wycombe is not likely to leave much change from £300k. Starter homes and ‘affordable’ housing are not really […]
Opinion : Eliminate the puddles not the potholes
Well, another weekend is upon us. What a dull and dreary week last week was. April showers and overcast skies seem to have pushed spring to one side recently. I would have liked to spend more time in my garden this weekend but the poor weather will probably force me to stay indoors and look […]
Opinion : Sunday trading
Well, there’s another Bank Holiday weekend over, but have no fear as another Bank Holiday will be here in a matter of a couple of weeks. Of course being Easter Sunday the Sunday trading laws were in action and some types of shops had to close. Introduced in 1994 the Sunday trading laws had a […]
Opinion : Easter Weekend 2014
Once again it’s Good Friday and the start of the Easter Weekend. With four Bank Holidays over the next six weeks it’s a shame so many of our precious days of rest are bunched up at one time of year. This weekend my time will be spent pottering around my estate tending to my garden. […]
Opinion : Do restaurants charge too much?
The other day yours truly had to attend a business meeting at lunchtime. To be honest at midday I would rather sit quietly on a bench in the Parish Churchyard eating my sandwiches than sit down to a table in a busy restaurant and eat a formal meal. I feel large multi-course dinners are the […]
Opinion : Friday is market day
Friday was a nice day. I quite enjoyed myself sitting on a bench in the grounds of the Parish Church eating my sandwiches and watching the world go by. Being market day the town centre was very busy indeed there is always a special something in the air when the market is on. I can’t […]
Opinion : Wycombe: A town where tradition is kept alive
Those who have lived in Wycombe as long as myself will have seen many changes in the town centre over the years. Businesses have come and gone, historic buildings have been demolished and parts of the town have changed beyond recognition. One things that has stayed constant however is the towns upholding of tradition. Take […]
